Programme description:
The programme of the Doctoral School of Food Science aims to provide the opportunity to obtain a doctoral degree (PhD) in the following research fields:
- Food Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Food Chain;
- Food Safety, Food Quality Assurance, Quality Characterisation and Quality Preservation;
- Food Technology and Biotechnology
- Food Industry Processes, Metrology and Automation.

Research in Food Science and Engineering is particularly relevant to the growing importance of food safety, food quality and the application of modern methods and processes in the food processing chain. In this way, each of these topics is of major importance regarding the competitiveness of the domestic food economy and for EU membership.

Entry requirements:
MSc degree in food science-related field, min. B2 level of English, Statement of supervisor

online interview

Entrance exam description:
Assessment of the uploaded documents, language skills (language certificate is necessary: TOEFL, IELTS etc.), professional competence and motivation by programme leaders. Online interview, and research plan.

Programme structure

The PhD studies consist of tutorials, field and laboratory experimental work as well as preparation and defense of theses.

Our PhD programmes consist of 2+2 years. The first 2 years are completed by a complex exam at the end of the 4th semester. In the last 2 years, PhD students’ effort will be focused only on research, publications and writing a dissertation. PhD programmes take place on four campuses in nine scientific areas.
